Caring for Your Resin Keepsake

Your keepsake is made with love, care, and high-quality jewelry resin. While resin is durable, it's not indestructible, and a little extra care will help keep your piece looking beautiful for years to come.

Do's
  • Remove your ring before washing dishes, cleaning, gardening, exercising, swimming, or showering.
  • Store your keepsake in a cool, dry place when you're not wearing it. A jewelry box or soft pouch is perfect.
  • Clean gently with a soft microfiber cloth. If needed, use a small amount of mild soap and water, then dry completely.
  • Treat your keepsake like any fine jewelry. It deserves a little pampering.
Don'ts
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high heat, such as leaving your jewelry in a hot car or on a sunny windowsill.
  • Don't use harsh chemicals, perfumes, lotions, hairspray, or cleaning products directly on your keepsake.
  • Avoid dropping it or knocking it against hard surfaces. Resin can scratch or chip if it's hit hard enough.
  • Don't use abrasive cleaners, polishing compounds, or ultrasonic jewelry cleaners.

About Resin & Yellowing

One of the most common questions I receive is whether resin yellows over time. The honest answer is yes. All epoxy resins will naturally amber with age. It's simply part of the material's chemistry, much like photographs fade or silver develops a patina over time.

I use premium UV-resistant resin to slow this process as much as possible, but no resin can remain perfectly crystal clear forever. Keeping your keepsake out of prolonged sunlight and excessive heat will help it stay clear and beautiful for many years.

A Gentle Reminder

Every piece I create is handcrafted and one of a kind, made to honor someone special. With proper care, your keepsake can become a treasured heirloom that carries precious memories for years to come.

1-Year Clarity Guarantee

I use premium UV-resistant resin designed to resist yellowing. If your keepsake develops significant yellowing due to a defect in the resin or craftsmanship within one year of delivery, I'll repair or remake your piece at no charge. This guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear, scratches, accidental damage, exposure to harsh chemicals, excessive heat, or prolonged UV exposure.

Information on Metals

Caring for Your Jewelry

The metals I use are selected for their durability and beauty. With a little routine care, your keepsake can remain beautiful for many years.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is one of the most durable and low-maintenance jewelry metals available. It resists tarnishing, rust, and everyday wear better than many other metals.

Do:
  • Clean with mild soap and warm water when needed.
  • Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  • Store separately from other jewelry to help prevent scratches.
Don't:
  • Wear while using harsh household cleaners or chemicals.
  • Expose to bleach or chlorine for extended periods.
  • Polish with abrasive cleaners or steel wool.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is a timeless precious metal that naturally develops a patina over time. This is completely normal and can easily be removed with proper cleaning.

Do:
  • Wear your jewelry often. Believe it or not, regular wear can actually help slow tarnishing.
  • Clean with a soft polishing cloth made for sterling silver.
  • Store in an airtight bag or jewelry box when not in use.
Don't:
  • Leave your jewelry in humid environments for long periods.
  • Expose it to perfumes, lotions, hairspray, or household cleaning products before they have dried.
  • Use abrasive materials that may scratch the finish.

Gold Jewelry

Solid gold is naturally resistant to tarnish and corrosion, making it one of the easiest precious metals to care for.

Do:
  • Clean occasionally with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth.
  • Remove jewelry before heavy lifting or activities that could scratch the metal.
  • Store pieces separately to help prevent scratches.
Don't:
  • Expose gold to harsh chemicals like bleach or chlorine for extended periods.
  • Use abrasive polishing compounds unless recommended for your specific gold finish.

General Jewelry Care

No matter which metal your keepsake is made from:

  • Put your jewelry on after applying lotions, perfumes, or hairspray.
  • Remove jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, gardening, or sleeping.
  • Store pieces in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess humidity.
  • Clean gently with a soft cloth to maintain its shine.

Note: Small scratches and signs of wear are a natural part of jewelry that is loved and worn, adding character to the piece while preserving the memories it represents.
